Orthodontic treatments such as braces, Invisalign®, or early orthodontic intervention can give anyone a great-looking smile. However, the aesthetic benefits truly are secondary to the more critical goal in orthodontics: jaw and teeth alignment that promotes a healthy bite and unobstructed breathing. At Smilemaker Orthodontics, we work closely with each patient and family to ensure that your treatment gives you the smile that boosts both your confidence and long-term dental health.

Achieve Your Best Smile at SmileMaker Orthodontics!
If you’re looking to improve your smile easily and discreetly, Invisalign may be the right choice for you. With this innovative orthodontic treatment, you can continue to eat your favorite foods and benefit from the discreet, barely-noticeable trays. Your friends and family won’t even notice that you’re wearing braces! Our orthodontist specialize in Invisalign and in-house custom clear aligners in Hendersonville, and can help you achieve your ideal smile with this revolutionary teeth straightening system.
Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that are specifically molded to your teeth. Over the course of treatment, you will change aligners every two weeks to continue adjusting your teeth. The timeframe of treatment depends on your specific smile and desired outcome and can be discussed with your orthodontist.
Invisalign and our custom-made aligners are a great alternative to traditional metal braces. The trays are clear, making it barely noticeable that you’re wearing braces. You’re also able to remove the trays at any time, which allows you to continue eating foods that you love. It’s also much easier to keep up on dental hygiene, brushing and flossing as there are no wires and brackets to work around.
Invisalign is also a comfortable way to correct your misalignment and get the smile you want!
Dr Jay Burton is a board-certified, award-winning orthodontist in Hendersonville TN. He specializes in braces and Invisalign for children, teens and adults. Here is a little more information about traditional braces.
Getting braces is a major event in the life of any teen. Often, it can mark the transition from little kid to young adult. While you know they’ll make your teeth straight, you may have questions about day-to-day life wearing braces .
At first, your braces may feel like they stick out. You’re just not used to having that extra little thing on the front of your teeth. Don’t worry. You will get used to them after a short while. Sometimes after an adjustment, your teeth may feel loose or you might experience some discomfort from the appliance. We recommend a special wax to help alleviate any irritation to your lips or cheeks.
It’s more important than ever to brush and floss your teeth when you have braces. Dr. Allen and his team will show you how to do this properly with your braces. And, of course, it’s super important to see your regular dentist for cleanings while undergoing treatment.
For the most part, braces will not impact your regular lifestyle. There are only a few foods you’ll want to avoid:
Hard, chewy and crunchy foods
Popcorn
Chewing gum
These foods can damage your braces, which means more trips to the orthodontist for repairs.
